Direction of Hardwood Floors?
I am building a new house and having Hardwoods throuout the whole house. But they go 2 different directions. If you walk in my front door they go longways from the front to the back of the house (this being the foyer). But this leads into the living room which runs from side to side. Also my dining room runs from front to back and this leads into the kitchen which runs side to side. Is this normal, I have looked at other pictures and all the rooms seem to go the same direction. Thanks Also no designs, just normal hardwoods.

- Hardwood floors are normally installed so the grain runs toward the main source of light, such as a window. This looks much better and minimizes shadows created by the cracks between the boards.
