Which kitchen supplier is best ?
My parents have a small kitchen in a flat in Essex which is old fashioned and needs completely stripping and re-fitting - which large company B&Q, MFI etc. would you recommend to design and fit including new appliances, re-position combi boiler, laminate flooring etc.etc.

- I don't know, but you should go to Tesco's (Every Little Helps)! Lol!! Merry Christmas :)
- I got mine done by Wickes earlier this year. They designed it and supplied it, and the sales guy gave me the number for his fitter who did it for half the price. Just ask them if theres someone they know, off the record.
- magnet
- howden kitchens they have a store in every main town in essex they are only open to trade customers but will give you a recomended list of kitchen fitters who have an account with them then you choose your kitchen from them and the fitter will order it for you through his account
- Wickes, don't go to MFI whatever you do. I got my kitchen cupboards from Wickes in Greenwich and they were very good - mind you we fitted them ourselves although Wickes designed it on their computer. They've also got a good range of styles.
- you may need to get a decent builder in to do the floor same goes for the combi boiler ( maybe a corgi regsistered one?) but depends on ya budget. my sis's place in india. they build all the units by HAND.. said they were amazing, they didn't wanna leave till it was finished and they didn't have any tea breaks etc. she had to send em home till the next day or else she'd have to start charging em rent =) (I could never see that happening in london.lol) but yer it depends on your budget IF your getting fitters in or just making the units yaself. I do the work myself and my neighbours a plumber. so i'd a tad cheaper. you can get basic units or flash ones.. it all depends on what you want to spend.
- without a doubt, howdens.
- Hi, I would not advise B&Q or MFI. I had a design planner come out from B&Q, He had no idea whatsoever how to design my kitchen and the appliances were very expensive, I surfed the net and I got all my appliances at approximately half the price to what B&Q quoted me, My advice is shop around
- i would not trust any of the big co's to actually fit one from what i've seen. if i go and fix something more often than not there is something significant wrong, like not being able to get to the stop tap. they are expected to do too many things without the training. as for what you want it depends on cost, do you want standard units or bespoke. whichever you get make sure the fitters are qualified (not just college quals but capability wise) to do the things they say, like carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plastering etc. do they bring specialists in to do some things. have a look at work they have done before, if they dont want to show you past stuff dont use them make sure they give a certificate for electrical and, if you wish, for plumbing is a local water board approved plumber (or WRAS), look on net. gas boiler must be done by CORGI fitter howdens are fine but a bit limited on choice, depends what you wan.t
