What kitchen themes and/or colors should I use?

I'm trying to get ideas for my kitchen decor/theme. I think my colors are quite odd....I have laminate grayish countertops with white cabinets. The tile floor is marble-like with the same gray color of the counters and white and a little cream. All of my appliances are white also. The walls currently are a light pale yellow, which I think clashes with the counters; however I'm not sure what color to repaint the kitchen considering the kitchen and living room are separated only by a bar counter. The living room is painted that same light pale yellow. (Living room furniture=tan and cherrywood furniture). I don't want to replace the countertops right now. I'm open to all suggestions...except country themes.

  1. I think a ruby or raspberry red would compliment the white, cream and gray that already exists. The contrast would be stunning and elegant. It would also play nicely into the colors in the living room. Not a bright red, definitely, lean more towards the burgundy/red tones. Good Luck.
  2. You can use the Rooster collection, or the cherry/apple collection -- the Rooster collection uses the shades gray to black with reds and yellows that seem would accent all ofyour colors. The apple motif will enhance the yellow, red and use of green and offwhite scheme. The kitchen should look appetizing and the pale yellow is part of that psychological aspect of the brain, appetizing/hungry, and accented with the blacks, red, gives a more appetizing environment. The light pale yellow could also blend with the vineyard theme -- winery, lavendars, wines, royals, and offwhite/tan. Using the vineyard theme will also make the kitchen a great place to congregate and colorful. I hope these ideas help. go to www.eycfloralsandgifts.com --kitchen and entertaining department and check out the Chanticleer plates -- these are the colors I am speaking of.
  3. I would take a pale red paint for the walls, then the trimming and your cabinets a creamy rich white color, (to match you counters). On you walls you should use a stencil an paint in creamy white apples. I love apples in kitchens, i think it looks homey, warm, welcoming and fun, but with the right amount of classy taste.
  4. i think a cranberry color walls would look great, and be the right compliment to the white and gray already there, still blending with the light yellow in the next room. i am into terra cotta also, which would work nicely with the yellow, white and gray. i think you need a deep color to keep from looking washed out, which i think the yellow might be looking. if you dont like the country themes, dried flowers or birdhouses, on maybe a border, look pretty and brighten things up a bit. good luck
  5. Definetly red tones!
