Any decorating ideas for a coffee themed kitchen?

I have a kitchen which I have started to theme with coffee decor. I have the type of kitchen cabinets which have room on top to place things. Any CREATIVE ideas for coffee-related items I could put on top of those cabinets? I say creative because I already know there are pictures/prints I could buy and signs that say "Expresso", "Latte", that sort of thing. I am looking for unique ideas.

  1. -fill clear or colored glasses, vases etc with coffee beans -buy creative coffee mugs at flea markets and use them as planters or fill them with candle wax
  2. white and black-brown walls circals would look good
  3. i saw candles shaped like different coffee cups, you could look for old coffee tins on ebay or antique type stores, you could put the oversized coffee cups there, at kohls they have ceramic tiles on plaques with a coffee theme
  4. I used to collect unusual cups and mugs and I displayed them on one of those expandable wooden racks. Above the cabinets, I would suggest you look through flea markets and at Goodwill and find unique coffee pots. I love the blue-speckled granite ones...and many of the old ones are really great conversation pieces. How about a wooden coffee grinder from the past? If you need more above the cabinets, mix a few mugs in with the other items. I love your idea. Go for it and have fun! It will look great!
  5. if you are into antiques i would look for some old coffee or tea canisters, and old coffee pots
  6. Use kitchen wares for planters, like bowls, pitchers etc....as well as cups & mugs...find old types of kitchen wares at flea markets and display those,...fill mason jars w/lids with diff. colored beans in layers, collect old tea pots, old coffee pots,or antique coffee cans, coffee grinders,etc..
  7. have glue gun will travel....glue a string of coffee beans around the curtains, fringe of tablecloth, glue them where you think they will look best
  8. Do you quilt or know someone who can? http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQShopping/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=6837 http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQShopping/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=6844&subject=&catpos= http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQShopping/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=5283 http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQShopping/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=5304&subject=&catpos= For tops of cabinets, go to yard sales and estate sales look for a coffee grinder and tins representing coffee or things you would eat with coffee. If you didn't do a coffee wallpaper border, consider tin signs for coffee or things you would enjoy with coffee. Get some old mason jars and put coffee beans inside. Find an older coffee server and mugs to also put on the cabinets for display . . . you could put dollies on the wall or placemats resembling tableclothes. I think it would be a fun theme with rich colors!
  9. I have an espresso themed kitchen as well. I second the idea of vases / candle holders then fill them with beans. What about old fashioned grinders? When I lived in Europe, I collected a bunch of those, you can find them on Ebay http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&catref=C6&satitle=antique+grinders&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=45069&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1 Oh, and how about some coffee bags? You know the kind that the beans come in? Or even a coffee bean tree, they sell plastic versions. I know that wouldn't fit on top of your cabinet, but.... -Angela http://www.espressogifts.com
