How to remove foul odor from kitchen cabinet?

I purchased a 12 year old home with custom pine kitchen cabinets in which one set has an unpleasant odor. The surrounding cabinets aren't as bad. I was told the foul odor in the cabinets was due to the home being closed up and there was no central air. I installed central air, leave the cabinet doors open cleaned the cabinets with bleach and set baking soda on the shelves. Still, two months later, the smell remains.

  1. have you tried putting baking soda in the cabinet. I would apray it with lysol really well and then buy baking soda and put it in there- that should really help with the bad smell.
  2. The first method you should try to remove odor from your cupboards is to place a box of baking soda inside each cabinet. Baking soda will take care of most odor problems. However, if the baking soda does not alleviate the problem, take everything out of your cabinets and wipe down the inside of your cupboards with a heavy mixture of white vinegar and water. The vinegar odor will be strong when you are applying it, but when it is dry it will not be noticeable. :)
  3. Also, put a bowl of white vinegar in the cupboard and close it. This should neutralize the smell.
  4. put a pie plate with fresh unused coffee grounds in there.it will absorb the odour and leave a coffee smell if you dont mind the smell of coffee.
  5. For eliminating the odor without fragrances and irritants, here's an inexpensive and fragrance free product that is FANTASTIC that I've used for same problem and know so many other people that use all around too! . It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers that I think originally made for fridge (makes sense). -little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is great and eliminates odors for a long time. It works so much better than all those sprays, gels and fragrances that just cover up smells and have lots of warning statements on them. Just place one in each cabinet and forget about it. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere - it's that good and I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. I also know you can buy direct easily within just a few days which is what I do. It's easy and fast Just email to -customerservice@innofresh.com and they will send order form. Definitely worth trying
