What is the standard depth of a kitchen cabinet?

We're looking a new home and the depth of the kitchen cabinets barely fits a normal sized (10") dinner plate. What's normal/standard? So, the cabinets that are less than 12" are cheap / sub-standard and we should probably not buy the house unless we (me - the mom) want to suffer with small chincy cabinets - that's what I'm trying to tell my husband!!!!

  1. Standard depth of 12". http://www.garagestoragekits.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=&idproduct=142
  2. Uppers 12ins deep Base 24ins deep you must have some really big plates. Try putting them in the corner cabinet. I think the builder skimped.
  3. Wall cabinet depth is 12" ; base cabinet depth is 24".
