loose kitchen hardware?
I recently had new knobs and pulls installed on my kitchen cabinets. It appears that the holes drilled for 4 of the knobs were made too big, and the knobs are loose (you can jiggle them up and down). Any suggestions for how to best deal with this?

- Remove knobs & screws. Break up wooden toothpicks the length/depth of holes & jam 'em in tight, then squirt Elmer's or wood glue. When totally dry, replace screws(wood screws)w/correct size and reinstall knobs. Knobs might also need the toothpick filler if the holes have been enlarged.Steer clear of whoever drilled the holes!!
- Try tightening the screw from the back first. The size of the hole is not really that critical (within reason of course). If they are already tight as can be, move to step 2 STEP 2 It maybe that the screws used are to long. The screws used to attach most knobs and handles are threaded into "blind" threads. So you will need shorter screws. Take one out and go to your local hardware store and get some 1/4" shorter (BTW: most cabinet hardware screws are 8-32, tell the clerk at the store what you need, he or she will know exactly what you are talking about) Hope this helps . . . .
