I painted my kitchen cabinets black with chrome hardware to accent. What color should I paint the walls? My back splash is checkered black and white tiles, and my floor is a grey metallic big tiles. My counter tops are granite with grey, black, and white in it. All my appliances are chrome. What is a great color for the walls surrounding the open kitchen. We also have plenty of windows in the kitchen for lighting as well. Right now I have a light yellow color but would like to go with something different. Any suggestion's or pictures of other kitchens that might resemble the look I am trying to accomplish would be a great help.

  1. Your kitchen is SCREAMING, "Paint Me Red!!!"
  2. A glossy grey would look good
  3. Black would make the kitchen to dark. But your back splash is checker with white. Both black and white are neutral colors so in theory anything. But my minds eye, I see a pail blue.??
  4. a nice deep blood red will give the room a modern warm look and if you have a lot of light coming in then it wont make your room look small.
  5. A medium-dark warm sandy grey would provide a great background for artwork that will introduce an accent colour while bringing out the warmer tones in the granite. If you don't already have art to hang, you should consider some sepia-toned photographs in black frames with wide off-white mats - it would make a stunning contrast with your black, white and grey theme. Good luck!
  6. I agree with Voodoo. You kitchen is crying out to be painted RED!!!!! Fire Engine red. I think it would look fantastic! Those are the colors of my bathroom. Black, white, chrome, and red. It is an amazing color combination.
  7. White or any light color that would help accent some of your decor...Like light blue or a light green...Your cabinets are dark so you dont need any dark color of the walls.
  8. You have enough going on in your kitchen. Let's tie it all together by painting the walls a nice crisp white. Definitely get rid of the yellow with this color scheme. Keep with the "cool" colors. It sounds very classy. Congrats on your design plan!
  9. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_visualizer/index.jsp I think a blue like "cay" (# 6773) would look super sharp with the black cupboards.
  10. Behr has a blue shade called "Cloudy Day" that would look great with your colors, but if you want a warmer look try "Fresno Cream" which is an apricot shade. With your black, white and gray palette you have lots of choices depending on the look you want...cozy or cool? You might also take into account the colors in the adjoining rooms and play off of those.
  11. I painted my cabinets black with brush nickel hardware... I love it! My walls are by Benjamin Moore "Antique Pewter" Which you have to see to appreciate. I went with brush nickel chandelier shades from Pottery Barn.. We love it!
