Kitchen cabinets do not close completely. Closing leaves a 1" gap. Do not have euro style hinges?
Cabinets are about 10 years old. Originally they closed fine, but now about half of the doors do not close completely. Not sure what the hinges are called, but very simple 2 screws on door, 2 screws on cabinet.

- Does someone in your house have a habit of leaving the cabinet doors hanging open? Sounds like the hinges are worn/bent. Replace the hinges.
- You need some hinges that have springs or close automatically, not just ones that let it swing.
- you need to tighten the screws on the hinges. the hinges are just loose.
- I suggest new hinges, also possible that the screw holes have become too loose, to hold them. Both are easy fixes. Use wood putty, or toothpicks. Why not take this time, to replace all the hardware, will brighten up your kitchen and the cost can be reasonable. Oh one reason they don't stay closed is, that many cupboard doors, use a magnet to hold them shut, others use a clip system. One on the door and one inside the cabinet. Check those out too, easy to buy at the hardware store. Good luck with it.
- reason for that is very simple door hanging downfall, put the cabinet strait in level or install new magnets, or contact for help
