Best way to remove paint from...?

What is the best (easiest and cheapest) way to remove several layers of paint from kitchen cabinet hinges. I've scraped a little bit off and I really like the looks of the retro. hinges and want to reinstall them after the cabinets and doors are painted. 1. (From Scott at: http://www.bobvila.com/wwwboard/messages/57768.html) Use PEEL AWAY 7 www.peelaway.com
  2. citrus strip is what i would use
  3. hi... TSP is your best bet...it's found in the paint department at your local hardware store...Lowes or Home depot...it is a powder that you mix with water in a bowl put all of your hinges in there, let them soak for a couple of hours and just use a stiff cleaning brush to get the paint off., which should already be dissolved..easy...good luck
  4. You might think this is a joke, but use heat. I use a blow torch on older furniture to remove the paint. The trick is to SLOWLY apply heat and watch for the paint to seperate and/or bubble. Once it does just rub off. Since its a hinge i would remove the hinges from the cabinet and hold the hinge with pliers and do this. Good Luck
  5. do you have a crockpot?take the hinges and slow cook them in it with laundry detergent.pick them up every once and awhile and check the paint.it will turn into rubber and pretty much fall or wash off.i've used this trick for years restoring very valuable antiques.you can even strip chrome with this method.use plently of soap!
