  1. lightly sand them, then coat with primer.
  2. Believe it or not, you can paint them. What you first need to do is wash them really good with TSP (a very strong product you can buy at your hardware store. It's a powder that you will mix with water... make sure you wear rubber gloves as it can burn your skin). Once you have done that, lightly sand the surface of each cabinet using a fine-grain sandpaper. Remove all the dust with a damp soft cloth. The next step is to apply an oil-based primer. This sticks to ANYTHING! You can then paint any way you want: latex or oil. If you do use a latex paint, make sure you seal it with a water-based sealer that can be washed. You might even want to faux finish those cabinets and can find loads of ideas on the internet... you can even paint those cabinets to look like wood... and it works! People won't know the difference until you tell them. The other option which is more costly but less so than replacing your cabinets: change just the front cabinet doors. Enjoy the experience!
  3. i'm sure they make paint that will stick to such things. maybe spray paint....i don't know. or there might be a medium you can prime them with first. go to lowes or home depot or something. ask them what you should use.
  4. Take some sandpaper and rough up the vinyl. Don't sand it all the way off or anything, but make it rough enough for paint to stick. I hope this helps, Good luck!
  5. Clean them with TSP followed by a light buffing with fine 220 grit sandpaper.
  6. I have the same type of cupboard and have painted them without any problems just use a good primer first.
  7. First rough them up with sandpaper so some of the laquer finish comes off. There are products you can buy that will adhere to this type of surface. Prime the cabinets with this first, let dy for a day then paint.
  8. Sand them ligthly, then clean them and then prime them and then paint them... That will be enough...
  9. What you can buy is a product made by Zinsser its called Bulls Eye 123 - its a primer that will stick to anything and then you can paint with any product over it. One thing with using this primer - other than making sure your cabinets are washed clean of any grime there is no other preperation that needs to be done. What I would recommend you paint over it is a melamine paint - your melamine paint can be tinted to the colour you want and it will be more washable and less chip resistant than normal paint since you are using it on your kitchen cabinets. I have recommended this to many of my customers and they have come back to thank me.
  10. another option is to buy new doors for the cabinets. The chassis and shelves etc stay on the wall, you just fit the replacement doors.
