  1. Some like modern, some like country. You can even have different styles in each room. It's what you like. My style is antique. It's never out of style. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/pac_ctnt_988/text/0,,HGTV_22056_33320,00.html
  2. tuscan/wine theme is nice
  3. I like grapes... Lots go with birds & houses.
  4. My kitchen we put up melamine 4' X 8' sheets on the walls prior to the cabinets. I just wash them and don't have to wallpaper or paint frequently. We used antique kitchen items for accessories and didn't have a theme for the kitchen (just other rooms). On top of the wall cabinets, there is a space prior to ceiling. I have crock bowls, old canning jars, antique egg beater, stove top style coffee pots, etc.. Then had fake grape leaves hanging from coffee hooks & draped around the antique kitchen items. Some vines are hanging out of coffee spout, edge of bowl, etc... Wallpaper border with plum & grape vines. Plum & yellow covers for counter appliances, canisters, hand towel, pot holders, etc...
  5. Go with a style that represents both you and your husband. If your kitchen adjoins another room, try to keep the theme somewhat related. For example, our kitchen has a rustic "hacienda" (Spanish style) look, and since our living room adjoins it, we have a similar look there with leather sofas and native paintings. Also go with a look that you feel would be inviting to guests who may come to that area. Good luck!!!
  6. HOW ABOUT A TUMBLED MARBLE TILE MURAL FOCAL POINT FOR YOUR KITCHEN BACKSPLASH...... THEN ADD A STONE TILE FRAME AND PLAIN TILES AROUND THAT ... THEN COORDINATE THE REST OF THE KITCHEN AROUND THE COLORS AND THEME FROM THE MURAL TUSCAN THEMES ARE THE MOST POPULAR OR IF YOU'RE INTO WINE, THEN A TILE MURAL WITH WINE BOTTLES.. OR WINE LABELS ON MARBLE TILES.... LOTS OF PICS AND IDEAS ON THIS SITE FOR TILE MURALS http://www.AliciaTappDesigns.com ANY IMAGE ON TILES

  10. my favorite kitchen theme is NO theme - I hate theme kitchens. I love natural stone and fresh whites and natural colors - or certain styles - like French provincial or modern American - you can buy kitchen/bathroom magazines at the newspaper store that have brilliant ideas - I used them when I built my home and they were great. - beautiful natural tuscan stone patterned borders, gorgeous glass spashbacks - use some beautiful tiles or colors but please don't do themes - uggh - I couldn't imagine anything more yuk than a "cow" kitchen, or a "tulip" kitchen or something....
