Should kitchen cabinet knobs and lighting match appliances?

I am sprucing up my kitchen. The cabinets are an oak color. The walls are a khaki/tan color (Sherwin Williams Latte) http://www.myperfectcolor.com/PhotoDetai... I'm adding new ceramic floors (probably like Roman gold or American Olean Hazelnut - still debating that). My fridge is stainless steel. I'll be adding a stainless steel stove and eventually as money permits a matching microhood and dishwasher. I need new lighting and am going with track lighting to spread the light around. In the eat in, I'm changing the pendant to another (it's awful gold and frosted dome now). I'm also adding knobs to the cabinets. Question: I like the dark bronze lights. Should the lights match the appliances in a nickel or something? Should the knobs also match the appliances? I'm thinking the dark color lends to the floor, cabinet and wall color, but I'm not sure if they will have to match the appliances? FYI: the kitchen accessories are red.

  1. Some people do tend to stay in the same color tone. At times that can be a little over done. The stainless fixtures would break up the overdone thing and serve as great accents that would compliment each other. I've been dealing with these issues for a while and suggest the latter but it still boils down to your individual taste.
  2. I don't think there is any need for knobs and lighting to match the appliances. Just choose the colours you like best and it will look nice.
