any design ideas for new apartment?
we are now moving from a single family home into an apartment. It has an open floorplan, with the kitchen island right off the living area and a small eating area. we cannot paint. So, I am thinking of incorporating color into the room by adding draperies and rugs. does anyone have any ideas on how to unify and add color the room without making it look crowded and closed in. But, still define the different areas? also, any ideas on floor plans??

- Add color with pillows and the colors that you decide on make sure that they are in your rugs or drapes and use hints in other rooms .For instance if you choose a blue rug ,with black hints of green and beige or other colors then use those colors as your accessories.Like blue jars for pasta in your kitchen or vases for flowers or place mats on the table.Then use another color from your rug for the bathroom or stick with blue.Just a for instance not a suggestion on color.Use picture frames in black or the same color groupings and add plants for life and accessories.Also a large mirror will be good for opening up your room and light reflection.Can,t give advice on floor plan because we do not know how your apartment is lay-ed out .
