Best rated paint for kitchen cabinet redo?

I want to use the best rated and performance paint to redo/repaint my kitchen cabinets. I am leaning towards an oil based as I redid my bathroom with a water based paint designed for cabinets and I didn't like the results. Yes, I prepped the surface but it still chipped. Anyone have any good recommendations having actually used a product? Thanks in advance!

  1. Benjamin Moore makes an oil based paint for trim called Impervo. I generally don't use oil-based paint, but this stuff is great. Be sure to prep the cabinets properly. Sand with 100 grit to give the primer some tooth, then prime with Fresh Start alkyd primer. Apply a minimum of 2 coats of finish and you will be good to go. Hope this helps.
  2. Might find 'melamine' paint for cabinets at a big home center or professional paint shop. Dries thinner & harder than oil based or latex paint.
