spray painting bathroom and kitchen hardware?

I have kitchen and bathroom cabinet hardware that i would like to spray paint to update it. Is this fairly easy to do? and does it turn out nice? i am trying to update my house to sell it.

  1. The handles and hinges.? Nope. Paint will flake off of the hinges and oils from the hands will dissolve the paint on the handles and they will be sticky forever..
  2. Alot of prep goes into that, taping and paper to absorb over spray and a good cross ventilation system, two or three squirrel fans, a respirator and body coverage because it is going to get real messy real fast. Practice outside on a piece of vinyl or metal for about three days until you get a good flow and cover. Also take note of the over spray, that over spray is going to be everywhere inside the structure and on your body and in your body, so talk to the pros and get geared up properly.
  3. I do it all the time when I flip houses Remove them and take them outside I have had best luck with oil rubbed bronze look, I use a cappucino oil based spray paint for base coat, after about 10 minutes but before all the way dry, mist lightly with a black oil based spray paint - let dry and reinstall Don't paint to heavy, keep your hand moving all the time and use a good quality paint - practice a little and you'll be amazed, by the way I also do light fixtures, and ceiling fans Good Luck
